Putsborough Beach Cafe sits right by the sandy stretch of Putsborough Beach, making it a natural stop for anyone spending a day by the sea. It’s a straightforward cafe rather than a full-service restaurant, with a focus on simple, fresh fare and coffee — the kind of spot where locals and visitors alike drop in after a beach walk or surf session.

The setting here shapes the experience. There are about ten tables indoors, but many choose to sit outside on benches that catch the sea breeze and panoramic views, looking over the wide sandy beach to one side and rocky outcrops to the other. This makes it a nice place to pause during a morning stroll or a slow afternoon, as the sun moves across the bay.

The menu is uncomplicated and comforting. You’ll find classic British beach-cafe staples like Cornish pasties with chips, chicken nuggets and chips, and simple breakfast baps. The “Cup of Chips” is a local favourite for a warm snack after chilly sea swims or long walks. Hot drinks range from flat whites to hot chocolate, and though prices lean a bit higher than inland cafes, many appreciate the freshly cooked food and friendly service.

Families, walkers, and dog owners often stop here, helped by the cafe’s direct beach access and relaxed atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where the queue system—separating hot and cold orders and a dedicated collection point—keeps busy periods flowing without fuss. If you’re heading to or from Woolacombe, it’s a sensible and welcoming break spot, especially on sunny days when the outdoor seating fills fast.

While some find parts of the menu average, the overall vibe centers on straightforward comfort and the reward of good coffee with an ocean view. Whether you’re after a light bite, an energizing coffee, or a place to watch the waves roll in, Putsborough Beach Cafe anchors a relaxed, practical seaside experience.

Putsborough Beach Café – I was very pleasantly surprised by the good food and delicious coffee, I highly recommend it! A dog-friendly place with direct access to the beach.

Come here for a view and a coffee or cream tea. The cafe has the most spectacular view over the sandy beach to the right and rocks to the left. The food is average and the prices are high. The service is good. Thre are avout 10 tables inside and more benches outside. They sell mains, like chicken nuggets and scampi, the special of the day was a beef burger, and it was good. The fish cakes not so good. There is a fridge with ice-cream and a range of souvenirs, beach toys. Down the stairs is the beach. You need a far to get here, or do a long walk from Woolacombe. For cars the entrance fee of £10.

Had a lovely snack lunch here after walking the length of the beach from Woolacombe. Plenty of tables both inside and out and most with lovely views. Coffee was ok, if a little expensive, but the fresh food was really nice. Shop items to browse during the short wait for fresh food to be cooked, a nice touch of separate queues/ordering points for hot and cold things and a separate food collection point with clear announcements made over a PA system. We enjoyed sausage and egg bap, toasted tea cake and a vegan pasty. Sauce sachets at 30p is a little steep. Overall, a nice place to stop for a break overlooking the beach and rocks.

The perfect place for a hot drink, light bite or lunch. Situated with a perfect view of the sea whether you sit inside or out. We had two coffees and shared some nachos after walking along the beach. The nachos were super tasty and had lots of chilli on top. Highly recommend as a place to walk to or from
